Visual Clustering of Graphs with Nonuniform Degrees
We discuss several criteria for clustering graphs, and identify two criteria which are not biased towards certain cluster sizes: the node-normalized cut (also called cut ratio) and the edge-normalized cut. We present two energy models whose minimum energy drawings reveal clusters with respect to these criteria. The energy model that corresponds to the edge-normalized cut differs from the other ...
متن کاملVisual Observation of Flow Regime Transition in Downward Vertical Gas-Liquid Flow Using Simple Mixer
Different flow patterns of downward gas-liquid two-phaseflow using simple mixer are studied in an experimental manner. An experimental setup is designed and fabricated to allow the visual observation of downward two-phase flow patterns and their transitions. The flow patterns are recorded by a 1200 frames per second high speed video camera. The quality of downward two-phase flow patterns photos...
متن کامل4 Thermal entanglement of spins in a nonuniform magnetic field
We study the effect of nonuniformities in the magnetic field on the thermal entanglement of a two spin system. We show that in the ferromagnetic case a very small nonuniformity is capable to produce large values of thermal entanglement. In the antiferromagnetic case, nonuniformity only slightly raises the threshold temperature, but lowers the value of entanglement.
متن کاملMagnetic fluctuations of a large nonuniform plasma column
A broad experimental survey is made of the properties of spontaneously generated magnetic fluctuations in a large linear device in which the plasma density has different cross-field gradient scales. It includes steep gradients at the plasma–wall edge as well as at an interior plasma–plasma interface, thus phenomena of interest to magnetic fusion research as well as to space plasma physics is il...
متن کاملObservation of bunching of two bell states.
The bunching of two single photons on a beam splitter is a fundamental quantum effect, first observed by Hong, Ou, and Mandel. It is a unique interference effect that relies only on the photons' indistinguishability and not on their relative phase. We generalize this effect by demonstrating the bunching of two Bell states, created in two passes of a nonlinear crystal, each composed of two photo...
